Pentagon official Pete Hegseth refuses to back down in the face of impeachment threats, citing his commitment to the president's policies.

The news still feels like a punch to the gut - furious indignation is what I'm left with after learning about the impeachment threats against Pentagon official Pete Hegseth. It's just stunning to me how some Democrats can be so reckless and brazen, trying to intimidate someone who's simply doing their job. In a nearly six-minute video message filmed outside the Department of Defense, Hegseth stood firm, his words dripping with conviction as he declared, 'Just like the president. We don't back down. And that especially applies now.'

Hegseth's defiance comes as the House is expected to vote on an impeachment resolution introduced by outgoing Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) in September.

'This is not about me, but of course, the other side, in case you've noticed, they're obsessed.'

Hegseth went on to say that his actions are motivated by a commitment to the president's policies, rather than personal gain. He also cited his role as Secretary of Defense.

Public Statements and Current Status

Hegseth's impeachment push is being led by outgoing Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.), who introduced the resolution in September and cited Hegseth's actions as justification for the move.

The House is expected to vote on the impeachment resolution when it gavels back into session next week, with many Democrats signaling plans to potentially impeach Hegseth when they regain power next year with one of the largest House majorities since at least 2008.

Rumors have swirled that Hegseth could step down and get an appointment by Tennessee Gov.-elect Marsha Blackburn to fill her soon-to-be vacant old Senate seat. However, his close allies have shot those rumors down.
